Less than a month since getting engaged to NFL player Jonathan Owens, Olympic gold medalist Simone Biles has already checked wedding dress shopping off her list, picking not one but two dresses for her big day.
This weekend, Biles, 24, shared several photos from a dress-shopping trip to designer Galia Lahav’s Los Angeles boutique — where, she revealed, she ‘said yes to the dress(es).’
The pro athlete later shared in her stories that she picked out two numbers for the big day, which is set for 2023.
Meanwhile, Lahav also posted snaps from the shopping trip, showing Biles trying on two stunning gowns, which presumably did not make the final cut.
Owens, 26, popped the question to Biles, 24, in a gazebo at sunset on Valentine’s Day, presenting her with an oval three-carat diamond ring designed by jeweler ZoFrost.
A week later, she revealed that they’d already made some decisions about their nuptials, including that they’re planning a beachside destination wedding and that they’ll hire a wedding planner.
Ever the athlete, Biles has certainly hit the ground running on wedding planning, and already purchased what she’ll wear for the occasion.
In a fan Q&A on Instagram stories, Biles said that the first dress she tried on ‘was one of the ones I picked.’
‘The second one was about 8 in I’m guessing,’ she added.
The pictures from the boutique aren’t the ones she actually chose, but they do seem to indicate that she embraced traditional white dresses.
In one shot, she’s wearing a rather revealing gown with a plunging neckline and sheer sides, offering a peek of skin underneath. The skirt is a romantic tulle design with glittering floral embroidery and a train that spans several feet behind her.
In another photo, she wears a strapless white dress beaded lace, but this time the skirt is a more form-fitting mermaid cut.
The star also posed for a few pictures in the cutoff jean shorts, white tank top, and white cardigan she wore to the fitting.
She holds up two framed signs: The first reads ‘Officially a #GLbride,’ and the second reads ‘I said yes at Galia Lahav LA.’
Lahav added on Instagram: ‘It’s official: She said “YES to the dress(es)!” We are over the moon & so honored about gold medalist & mega athlete @simonebiles becoming a GL Bride!’
Galia Lahav’s ready-to-wear bridal gowns range in price from $2,190 to $4,960 online, though neither of the dresses Biles was pictured in on Instagram are available on the site.
One of the dresses, the strapless one, is a made-to-order design.
In a fan Q&A on Instagram stories, Biles said that the first dress she tried on ‘was one of the ones I picked.’ ‘The second one was about 8 in I’m guessing,’ she added.
Biles also answered a few more fan questions today, confirming that her wedding will take place in 2023 and saying that they are ‘still in the process of solidifying plans/details’ for their wedding, so they haven’t gotten to planning the honeymoon.
Still, she said, ‘I’ve always wanted to go to Bora Bora!’
Biles answered more fan questions last month, saying she was totally surprised when Owens popped the question in February after two years of dating — and though he clearly had a special night planned, it seemed normal because it was Valentine’s Day.
‘I was completely clueless, because it was Valentine’s Day, so it was like, whatever, it’s normal,’ she said in a video.
‘When we got there the guy was like, “Hey, I’m taking pictures of all the couples coming through, yada yada, so I really had no idea,’ she added.
Since then, they’ve already made some wedding plans, which Biles is thoroughly enjoying.
‘Wedding planning has been going well so far, it’s so exciting for me, I’m obsessed,’ she wrote.
‘I don’t think I’ll be a bridezilla because I’m making sure I know exactly what I want. Also I’ll definitely hire a planner [because] between this & building a house, our hands are full,’ she added.
They seem to be building their house in her hometown of Houston, and she told a fan: ‘Houston will always be my home no matter what happens.’
But she added that it’s ‘tough’ to settle in a single place because Owens’ NFL career makes things ‘uncertain’ — but even he were to end up on another team, they’d be in Houston during off-season.
So also revealed that her must-have for her wedding is the beach, explaining: ‘It will be a destination wedding’ — but she noted that it won’t be in Belize.
Answering another fan question about places she’d like to travel, Biles appeared to float some possible honeymoon destinations, saying they are going soon to Turks & Caicos but she would also like to visit Thailand, Bora Bora, Iceland, and Australia.
Biles also opened up about how they met when she DMed him on Instagram, advising followers: ‘Girls don’t be shy. Make the first move. Never know what’ll happen.’
Though they have only been together for two years, she said that because it was a ‘pandemic relationship,’ things ‘moved fairly quickly and we got to know each other on a deep level fast.’
‘So 2 but feels like 4 or 5 years,’ she said. ‘Wouldn’t change it for the world and when you know you know.’
The bride- and groom-to-be announced their happy news on Instagram on February 15, sharing several photos of the moment Owens got down on one knee to pop the question on Valentine’s Day.
The loved-up couple beamed in the images, which also show Owens lifting Biles up and kissing her.
‘THE EASIEST YES,’ the pro gymnast gushed. ‘I can’t wait to spend forever & ever with you, you’re everything I dreamed of and more! let’s get married FIANCÉ.’
A closeup and a video spotlighted Biles’ new diamond ring, which features a three-carat oval-cut diamond on a band inlaid with more diamonds.
Owens commented on Biles’ celebratory post, writing simply: ‘Ready for forever with you.’
The Houston Texans football safety also posted several photos on Instagram, writing: ‘Woke up this morning with a fiancée.’
‘Appreciate my dawg @don_julio314 for helping me set everything up, she really had no clue what was coming,’ he added. ‘[Jeweler] @zofrost you went crazy on this one bro really made the night special.’
Jewelry designer ZoFrost, of ZoFrost & Co, revealed to DailyMail.com that the design was a team effort, with Owens handpicking the ‘perfect diamond’ himself.
It’s a three-carat oval stone with F color and VVS2 clarity.
ZoFrost said they started working together several months ago, and added the extra smaller diamonds for a special touch.
Days after they shared their engagement news, the couple appeared together on the Today show to talk about the exciting time, and Biles beamed as she admitted her ring was a better piece of bling than her four gold Olympic medals.
